After over two years of free once-monthly women’s self defense classes, Gracie Academy Philadelphia has made the decision to welcome women to a free class any time. Call us and schedule your first class for one of the following options:
12:00 noon Monday, Wednesday, or Friday
6:00pm Monday, Wednesday, or Friday
Each class is approximately 1 hour long and a uniform rental is included. We look forward to starting you off on the right foot in your journey to empower yourself.
Techniques are always done under the assumption that anyone attacking you will be bigger and stronger. Jiu-Jitsu uses body mechanics and leverage to give everyone the best chance of nullifying potentially harmful situations. Unique to most martial arts, we also teach what to do when knocked to the ground, something that statistically happens in almost every altercation.
You will be amazed at what you can do.
Open to all women ages 12+
What to expect: A friendly group of beginners and experienced students to help you out. All instructors are advanced Jiu-Jitsu practitioners, led by Brian Rago, Tim Sylvester, and/or Samantha Faulhaber.
What to bring: Water bottle. Towel if you want to shower in our brand new facility after class. The class will be done barefoot but shoes are worn outside of the mat so we recommend wearing flip-flops for easy on/off.
How to get here: Gracie Academy Philadelphia is located at 1231 Bainbridge Street. The door is silver with a white triangle logo on it.
If you drive: There is 2-hour street parking throughout the neighborhood,
